We've broken ground (And our backs)

Well we've started. It was hard going, ground very wet and claggy,  going to take a while to get it ready.  Two hours to dig over a 3m x 6m bed that's the potato bed  almost ready. Need to dig in more compost.  The next bed will be for onions.

Met a few other allotmenteers, one who had made a good start on double digging and another had made fantastic start with several wooden raised beds already in place when we arrived early afternoon.  We managed to do 2 hours solid digging.  Very tiring as the ground was very soggy and squelchy, but lots of manure and extra compost we will soon get it in better condition.  We are going to take our time and grow the beds around the perimetre of the plot until we have gone all the way around meeting up with where our greenhouse will be in about 6/8 weeks.

Cannot wait to get the tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse.  It is difficult to imagine how it will all look in the summer, hopefully we will have an abundance of veg.  But at the moment its just Mud, Mud, Mud.

Now we are home warming up and then time for tea.

Nice roast chicken veg and roasties for tea, then bath and early night as I'm up for work at 5am.  Then back to allotment afterwards.  We'll soon have it ship shape.
